2007/08 Guilford Boy’s Bowling Program
General Information
Welcome to the Guilford Boy’s Bowling program. As a member of the Boy’s Bowling team you will learn the physical & mental parts of the sport of bowling, you will be challenged to push yourself to succeed, you will be expected to represent yourself, your team and your school in an appropriate manner at all times. I can also guarantee that you will have a ton of FUN as member of the Guilford Boy’s Bowling Team.
Eligibility: You are student’s first, athletes second.
1) You must maintain a 2.0 GPA and have had a 2.0 GPA in your previous semester. 2) You must be passing 5 classes 3) There is a Tudor Exemption policy for Freshman & Sophomores. See your counselor for details on the tudor program.
Fees: The participation fee is $135.00 Make checks payable to Guilford Boy’s Bowling Team. (Not Guilford H.S.) The $135.00 must be paid before the student will be allowed to participate in any team practices or meets. Special accommodations may be made for situations of financial hardship. Contact Coach Brad Sommer to make arrangements.
Physicals: Each student must have a physical in order to participate. A copy of your physical must be given to the Athletic Department ASAP. Bowlers will not be able to compete in competitions unless the AD’s office has an update copy of a physical. Freshman need not submit a copy of a physical as they already have one on file.
Code of Conduct (Drug & Alcohol Pledges) The Students & Parent must sign this form. New policy this year. Much more strict. It’s simple - Just make smart choices.
Emergency Card: E ach student will be given a pink emergency notification card. This card must be filled out and returned to the COACH before they are allowed to participate in a practice.
Team Pictures: Your coach will let the students know when team pictures are as soon as the school notifies the coach.
Uniforms: Casual Khaki Pants (no cargo pants with big pockets) with a belt and the team-bowling shirt. Each student will be responsible for the cost of the Bowling shirt. Most years the shirt cost runs $25 - $28. The shirt is the students to keep.
Team Fund-Raiser: Each student on the team will be required to sell at least one case of candy.
Schedule: See separate Schedule.
Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from practices and local matches. Busing will be provided at no cost for any out of town competitions. Most competitions start at 4:00 p.m. Bowlers should be ready to bowl by 3:50 p.m.
